Thanks to all in first post
Sincere thanks to all of you on this forum for allowing me to learn an awful lot in a very short, but a bit confusing!, first couple of days.
I went from reading/thinking about one reader to the other and all of your contributions made it become more clear to me what I needed and wanted.
Special thanks to all in the Sony Reader Threads, HarryT and to Kovid Goyal in particular.
I was waiting for the opportunity of adapting my passion for reading to the 'modern' times, the space my books were taking up were getting to be a problem, the taking care of so many books during many moves from country to country were also difficult. The real problem with many books (records, cd's, tapes, dvd's etc.) is the enjoyment of USING and ENJOYING them again and again. The hassle seemed just too much at times. Adding new books even seemed less enjoyable in the long run.
I am profoundly upset in a way about the many different formats out there, which seem to be a purely commercial enterprise to lock the consumer in a system that does not allow any leeway for the future and which also forces one to pay over and over again for already bought material. But I will get over it and adapt once again, after all I got, in a different medium, through the VHS-BetaMax War of the 80's....
I think buying a E-reader is a turning point in my reading life and I am looking forward to it.
I am a habitual non-registered 'lurker'on forums, but this time I could not NOT acknowledge the immense help you all provided me.
Many, many thanks again,
Jelis
