My heart will go onnnnnnn
Two weekends ago, it was the hundredth anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The stories should have recalled all sorts of Titanic facts to people's minds, so here's a test. Lots of points available here, don't be afraid to dive in.
1. Where was the Titanic built and what was the name of the shipyard?
2. Who was the architect?
3. It was built for which shipping line?
4. How many smokestacks did the Titanic have?
5. What was the name of its sister ship?
6. What was the name of the captain on the maiden voyage?
7. What was its port of disembarkation and what were its ports of call before starting across the Atlantic?
8. Name people who intended to cross on the Titanic but whose plans changed.
9. Name famous survivors.
10. Name famous victims (Jack Dawson is an immediate fail.)
11. Who was the highest ranking survivor of the ship's officers?
12. What was the name of the ship which rescued the survivors and who was its captain? Where was it headed?
13. What ship did not rescue anyone and who was its captain?
14. In what city are most of the recovered victims' bodies buried?
15. When the rescue ship reached New York, it stopped at a rival line's pier before berthing at its own dock. Why?
16. Who was the leader of the expedition that located the wreckage?
17. Before the Cameron opus, there were two English-language films about the disaster. What were they and who starred in them?
18. The Titanic features prominently in many novels. Name books and authors (but please keep it to a significant presence, not a passing mention).
