I had a DX and it seemed less fragile than my smaller Kindles. And I doubt there are as many returns as it would seem from reading these forums.
Everyone who has a problem posts here, but satisfied users tend not to post at all.
I've had 8 or 10 different Kindles now, and not a defect in any of them.

Speed issues with the DX, yes.
