I think the DX may be a bit of niche market; It's big, heavy,
and it cost more, But for reading full size PDFs is works great.
I tried reading PDFs on my Kindle Kybs and on my Kindle Fire, and
neither were quite as good as the DX (unless you like scrolling).
When you have a 3000+ page pdf you will appreciate the DX.
