As someone with both iOS and Android devices, I can easily see why iOS is making more money. It's easier to monetize iOS apps.
One reason I've spent more on iPhone apps is because it's easier to "pay cash." I don't have a credit card associated with either my iOS or Android devices. With Android, that means no purchases from Google Play. With iOS, that means I just buy an iTunes card.
