Direct selling by publishers is going to remain a niche market. People might go to Baen or Harl. or a handful of other sites. But they're not going to go to hundreds of sites to look for books. (And since we're talking about imprints, that's an actual number). People will just shop at Amazon.

And as for a one-stop shop to compete with Amazon...there is no way. The idea is ridiculous. Just because you can *think* of an idea doesn't mean you can carry it out...and doing something like this is *all about* execution.
