We're talking a 3 month commitment here. That right there justifies the risk for me. It's a short term commitment to try something.

Also, as another poster noted, using it has the advantage of streamlining advertising / marketing. For 3 months I can concentrate on one market and one format. If it fails miserably, then I don't renew. However, so far the "lending" aspect appears to be working. For two months in a row, I've had more borrows than sales at B&N and Smashwords combined. Next month it ends. I'm going to put the book into wider release and see how it does. It it takes off, that's great. If not, then I'll be back to play in Amazon's sandbox.

I'm a big fan of getting in front of as many eyeballs as possible. However, I'm also a believer of continuing to do what works.
