S'ok, so did everyone else since they continued to bash big publishing for the high price of the Bond ebooks throughout the thread.

Just a guess, but Penguin weren't too happy with the Fleming estate when they went the self-pub route for the ebooks, so that may have played a role in Penguin's decision to pass on renewing the rights to the books. As others have mentioned, the Fleming books will enter the public domain in the 50+life countries in three years, so that might have also discouraged interest from the major publishers in the franchise during this round of licensing.
