Updated KOBO app
I have used this e-reader app off and on since it was released.

It originally would only access ebooks that were purchased through their online stores. You could not side load ebooks into it.

I don't know which update this option was added in, but it can now search your SD storage for external books and you can either import all found or just the ones you want to add. I assume this includes ebooks with ADE DRM as I tend to remove DRM from my collections. I believe it does not archive the externally added ebooks to your KOBO account as well as sync your read location within an externally added ebook. This can easily be confirmed by trying it.
