Oh absolutely.

I rip all our DVD's to a 2Tb NAS hard drive for easy accessibility.

Our youngest daughter Kelly often watches her favourite TV shows on her MacBook streamed directly from that said same NAS.

We get digital and I am nearly 50. AFACT does not.
