First thing you must remember is to NOT PULL ON THE WIRES.

The cables made up of discrete wires have plugs. If necessary use a small flat screwdriver to lever the ends a little at a time until you can lift the plug free.

Flat printed cable sockets may have a lock clip that retains the cable. In that case you have to carefully slide the the lock away from the socket - it moves only one or two millimetre. If there isn't a lock clip then the cable will have reinforcing which you grip and use to pul the cable free.

With flat printed cables it is advisable to mark which way up they are.
