Just because something is logged though does not imply it's also sent. It might be, but equally it might be sending info that isn't logged locally too.
Even if data is logged locally only though, it can be an issue for some depending on what the data is and the length of time it's retained.
For example if your mobile logs every place you've been over the last year (mentioning no names  ), even if that info is never sent to an outside party, plenty of people would be (were) unhappy about it been on the phone without their authorisation especially for anything more than a short period of time.
Privacy is becoming a huge topic now, even though in some cases the data logged/sent is needed for services to actually function, consumers are wary that the data is also been used for other purposes (marketing, selling on etc) or companies are logging more than they need to (again usually for ad/marketing reasons).
If anyone has some definitive data on each of the devices I'd be interested in seeing it.

I sorta take for granted that any info being stored and logged about me is being sent and viewed by someone (or computer) for some type of tracking/marketing purpose.

And those cameras on TV's?? Classic 1984. Will not own one.
