Hopefully it works out for you. A couple of years ago, I skimmed the introduction to the B&N Classics edition of Sir Walter Scott's
Ivanhoe, which mentioned briefly in passing in a single sentence which of the love interests he was conflicted between that he would marry in the end, which is apparently one of the semi-major subplots of the book, and I
still haven't forgotten it, even though I also haven't read the actual book at all nor seen any of the adaptations.
And meanwhile, actually useful things like how to do certain chemistry calculations without having to refer back to the textbook go straight out of my head in less than two months' time.
