No, definitely not a cover issue. I've never had this particular Kindle in a cover with hooks. My problems started in Dec, as I recall. I must have reached the magical archive number at that time.
So it's been 2 days (@43 hours) since I did this, and I have to say, the problem is totally solved. I even left wifi on for 24 hours. Not once has it rebooted or frozen, and that was even using it heavily to put the books on the device back into collections (after creating them) and downloading some blogs and news.
I am very happy with my Kindle now!
