As a photographer I've always had a great appreciation for the concept of 'gray.' Our light meters do nothing more than measure 'gray' and compare it with the location of 'Neutral Gray,' which is the exact middle gray but mathematically comes out to 18% gray. This has never made any sense to me despite many people trying to explain the numbers. I still think it should be 50% gray!
I have campaigned to have Neutral Gray re-numbered, but have been actively ignored. I don't take it personally.
