That scene always bothered me. If the computer operated on voice command, then why would there be a keyboard in front of it? And since computers of the 23rd century operated by voice command, how does Scotty even know how to type; let alone at such blazing speed? Additionally, how does he know how to use ancient computer technology?

But then, the scene would be dull without the contrived plot line.
