So, if I'm hearing you right: selling ebooks through your site was a good way to develop a mailing list but now with the dominance of Amazon it's harder to get access to new customer data. Solution...? Like I mentioned, I'm trying the coupon code approach to get people to sign up but there's no rule that says you can have just one newsletter tab on your blog. I may try another tab of "free ebook" or "free short story" were I also try to get people to sign up.

As an aside, I have an audiobook available through CD Baby and they are very good about providing customer email addresses. They just ask that you give customers a one-time opportunity to opt-in to mailing lists.
