You need to log on to your router via its web interface, and check that:

1. The Kindle is appearing on the list of devices for the DHCP server (assuming your router is a DHCP server - they almost all are).
2. That it's not being blocked. Pretty much all routers give you the option of only allowing specified devices to connect - you might have enabled this.

How you do this depends on your router - they're all different.
