Marcy; I,m not joking about the battery methods I suggested. In particular; the additional transformer is very small and can be permanently left in the car. I have carried one for many years because I sometimes find myself on a motoring journey when a special TV event is due (a Grand Prix for instance). I stop the car & get out the portable TV & Aerial (also always left in the car). Both items are low voltage.
