I could have read what I wanted to in 1632 but I remember, at least I think I do, that the normal citizens where pretty ignorant of what was going on and relied heavily on the school teachers and books to get caught up. Plus, speaking of average Americans, I KNEW of the Thirty Years War but beside it being supposedly a religous war I knew very little. That's what has made this series so much fun.
