The US Simon and Schuster website has it labelled free, so you are probably right, it does look like a promo. But possibly geo-restricted since the Canadian S&S has it priced at $1.99 and iTunes isn't carrying it for Canadians at all. For variety, B&N has the pre-order priced at $0.99 and none of the links to other ebook outlets from the S&S page work.
If someone American, or cleverer than I with links, has access to the non-Amazon links and wants to post this as a new thread, be my guest.
