I hadn't thought of screen contrast, so thank you for mentioning that. See, I just assumed [yes, I should know by now not to!] that these namebrand ereaders would all have basically the same eink screens!

So thanks to frogi, I guess I need to know if the Kindle and Sony both have screens comparable or better than the Kobo Touch?
