I started reading the series in 1999 and never read them more than once although I've seen the movies many times. It is fun to go back and re-read the books again and realize all the clues for things to come and remember the things that I forgot because they were removed from the movie plots. The only thing I regret is that now when I read the books I have the movie characters envisioned in my head. Too bad you can't recapture your imagination of the characters from the very first reading.
