If you value the story, you have to finish the books. For instance, I was very disappointed with the way the last movie handled the climactic battle between Harry and Voldemort. It was much more riveting in the book, because it took place in front of everyone, and a Harry Potter who finally understood just how powerful he had become was openly mocking Voldemort. When Voldemort was pointing the elder wand at Harry with a trembling hand and Harry said "You still don't get it Riddle, do you?", it was chilling. They totally hashed that up in the movie.
