Hello

with the actual version of Calibre (calibre-0.8.46) I tried to convert a german text-file to epub on my Windows XP computer.
The result was, that all "Umlauts" (e.g. ä,ö,ü and ß too) were wrongly.

The solution was, to convert the textfile to UTF8 (I did it with EditPadPro), and then the calibre-conversion to epub was ok. It was encoded with Windows 1252 before.

I wonder why this is not done by calibre automatically?

Is that not possible to detect it?
