I do have a problem with the fact that JKR said she wanted everyone to have the same e-book experience. To me that means all the e-books would use the same fonts and have the same illustrations. It should not matter that they were not in the UK version and they were in the US. The e-books should all have the illustrations or not.

I read that as meaning "the same experience as an eBook that you'd get from the paper book". Don't you think it would be more problematic to have eBooks which were different from the paper books?
I agree with you that if would be nice if the UK books had the illustrations, but they don't, and never have had. I didn't know until I read this thread that the US versions had illustrations
