This is such a shame (and kind of irritating) -
One of his parents has an Amazon account, so perhaps he can register his kindle through them to access all the features of the Kindle - though I don't know if his parents want him to have such easy access to their Amazon account and the potential to spend all their money!
Do you know if it is possible to register but restrict buying through the Kindle?
It's a shame that he might have to re-purchase this book that I have encoded for my Kindle, which I have and am not going to read! Such a waste....
