FYI - I have a tablet, and rooted that. I did find a few quirks. Running with a rooted device can do all sorts of unpleasant things to the file system - especially if you have a child using the device.

What I have done is reverted mine to stock, and I'm now booting cyanogenmod 7 from the SD card, and the experience is much better - many more apps are available and run on the tablet. Any damage that one might sustain by running as root is then confined to the SD card. It is not a difficult process, but if you are not technically inclined you should look into purchasing a N2A card, which many people like.
