Amazon really needs to get their act together on KF8 books. I spent all day trying to get a book I'm writing to properly generate. I used some CSS magic to make a single file that displays properly on eInk Kindles (which still do NOT display KF8 books) and also display via KF8 on applicable devices. Here are the results:
- Looks good on my K3 Keyboard - displays as a mobi 7 book
- Looks good on Kindle for PC - displays as a KF8 book
- Looks good on Kindle for Android - displays as a KF8 book
- Fire will not recognize the book when sideloaded via USB
- Fire mistakenly displays it as a mobi 7 book when sent via email as a Personal Document
There is obviously some problems occuring with the Fire and KF8 books generated with Kindle Viewer 2.4. I would hate to publish my KF8 book and then have it merely look like a mobi 7 book.
The KF8 book can be sideloaded via USB to an eInk Kindle and my phone running Kindle for Android, but it cannot be sideloaded via USB to the Fire. The file shows up on the fire, but the Fire has no clue as to what it is.
