Kindle uses the publication date as a secondary sort field. So within an author's group of books (sorting by author) it puts them in order of publication date, most recent first, etc... That's a nifty little factoid I wasn't aware of. I'd used some of the other tricks (plugboard, changing titles, etc...), but never knew that the publication date had anything to do with sort order.
