I'm not sure. The combinations are;

H = highest
M = middle
L = lowest

L M = miss
L H = hit
M H = hit
M L H = hit
H L M = miss
H M L = miss

So that method makes it a 50/50 chance, I think

Is that the best that can be achieved?
