No fancy graphs, just a running word count, usually updated at the end of every chapter, sometimes at the end of the day even if the end of the chapter isn't in place. Divide by 400 to get an approximate page count. Just gives you an idea of how long the whole thing is likely to be.
A LibreOffice Calc sheet does the trick.
