New screen_saver images must be renamed to screen_saver0.png, screen_saver1.png, screen_saver2.png, ..., screen_saver9.png. (no more than 10 images at once). May be it works with more than 10 pictures, but I did not figure out how.

At least in current 1.7RC firmware, it is possible to have more than 10 images. Just go on with numbers. screen_saver9.png, screen_saver10.png, screen_saver11.png, ...
I went up to 15 images. I do not know, if there is a limit on number of images. It could be 100 (0 up to 99 - two digits in name), 256 (0-255 - one byte) or anything else....
