It means that someone could, presumably, acquire it without paying if they looked around a bit first. I didn't say it was a contradiction, I said it was not consistent. And I still don't think it's consistent. It's like buying your new fridge this week only to see it on special for half price the following week; there's nothing you can do about it, no one is doing anything that's illegal, but it doesn't stop you getting ####ed off about it either. I think it may be worth considering how such a marketing strategy may be interpreted by potential readers.
