While it is possible the op is at fault I am pretty sure that after two replacements extreme care would be used. Sometimes others are involved.

Just judging from tone it seems that Amazon has replaced the kindle 3 times under warrentee so maybe it is not a case of carelessness or misuse. If it is, the Op probably knows what they are doing wrong by now.

Reasonable care should be taken, but it is a transportable device and if a sturdy cover is necessary to protect this fragile device during everday use and transportation it should come with one.

My mother became quite paranoid after her kindle keyboard had to be replaced (no physical damage) so I got her a very sturdy case. She is happy but it almost triples the thickness and is much harder to put away in her very large pockets.

The chances of getting four defective kindles are slim, but it could happen. If so I would be demanding a refund.
