I'm late to the party, but I just finished the book this week. I love it. I'm obsessed with it.

There may a few times when some of the references were on overload, but except for a very few exceptions I think the author did an amazing job of including 80's nerd references but not forcing them in. It was absolutely a blast to read this book.

I understand the YA thought at the beginning as well, but then I figured it was more of a youthful naivete spirit that fit in absolutely brilliantly with the book, theme and characters.
