A novelist friend once told me about the first fanfic to which he was ever exposed, which consisted of erotic scenes between Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock. What he found most disconcerting was that these novel-length stories seemed to have been written by people with severe learning disabilities and contained no adjectives.

I remember discovering the first known example of irony, which turned out not to be irony at all. It was later called sarcasm. This was before they invented context.
