My 950 stylus scratched my screen

Ever since I got it, my stylus for my 950 has had a bit of a 'rough side'. It's just not as polished on one side as it is on the other. It's barely noticeable, but, when you move the stylus on the screen (underlying or highlighting, for example), it just does not feel equally 'smooth'.

I guess it has always bothered me, but not enough to do something about it.

Last night, reading the Wealth of Nations, I was highlighting a paragraph when the stylus just left a pretty deep scratch in my screen. I was not pressing hard at all, but I dragged across the page pretty quickly and I just felt the stylus cutting into the screen. And it did. About a one-inch cut, fairly horizontal, you can clearly see it on dark backgrounds.

I tried checking my stylus and I see nothing wrong with it. Truth, I could never see, or feel, anything wrong with it under my fingers. But, as I said, moving it across the screen, one side of the tip feels 'not as smooth'. It's not an issue if you hold it perfectly orthogonal to the screen, but you can feel it if it has any inclination. It's always been like this, but it has never scratched my screen.

I also wonder if there was something on the screen - sand or whatnot - and if the stylus was not the culprit. But no, it doesn't seem to be the case.

I am kind of pissed about it. Not a huge deal - but I really love my 950 (I had recently given it for dead, but apparently it just needed a couple of battery cycles). I would love to buy a new eReader. But I have returned the T1s, I like (but do not love) my KT and, while I do LOVE my 350 for books, the 950 is better all-around, as the large screen and 3g work well with magazines and newspapers.

Bah. More then anything, it kind of made me think... what when my 950 finally does die? Where to next? Without auto-delivery and 3g, the T1 is not an option... and I like the KT, but it really wants to bind me to Amazon's system. And the cover with light of the KT sucks, compared to the covers with light of the x50s.
