I agree. If this is your first novel, focus on finishing it first. At that point, you can look for an editor to help you bring it to its full potential.

Some authors can benefit from a developmental edit in the early drafting or even in the outlining stages, but IMO that kind of feedback is most useful for authors who've written several novels or dozens of stories, and have a good feel for the process of story creation.
