Because that would show how much, if any, actual growth there is in Apple's share of the market. There is a significant difference between 3 million new customers and 3 million current customers who are just upgrading. Especially when you add in the app store since the latter won't be buying too many new items... (I'm betting the split is around 2.5 million upgraders and 500k new customers, at best, due to the lack of mainstream hype this time around)
