Yep; she beat me to the punch. I had to erase my posting and do a 'nevermind' when I realized that it had already been posted.

a sock puppet's sockpuppet! This is twilight zone stuff.

When I was a small kid, I had one of those monkey dolls made from tube socks. So I decided to use it as a basis for my online identity - avatar and username. There were a few possibilities for the name: tubesockmonkey was too long and didn't have that ring. Sockmonkey was too close to sockpuppet and could give the wrong impression about my intentions when first joining a group. So ditching sock, I came up with tubemonkey.
