By all means, let him do what he likes with his life - doesn't mean I can't feel sorry for him....
And the phrase "Get a life" is, as I am sure you really know, is a colloquialism, and not always used with harsh intent, or as a call to string anyone up for doing anything , more a little chiding, and usually expressive of the user's general opinion of the action described.
People can wait in line as long as they like, long as they don't block the pavement/sidewalk......

I do feel, however, if everyone minded their own business, adopting it as a religion, as it were, we might very well not be better off.
