Yes, if they changed the rule to when the plane is actually cleared for takeoff, at least for handheld devices (laptops obviously take more time to secure) it would be much less irritating. But at a big airport like LAX or LHR or many others, the time from the door closing to 10,000 feet can easily be over an hour, most of which is spent simply sitting on the tarmac.
