I'll guess that it means Pottermore has to get their butt in gear & make the announcement so THEY can have the honor & not anyone else. It probably will also delay the buildup of the looooong waiting list for the ebooks through the library. Which is a good thing. How disappointed would you be to hear the annoucement that they're available and you're 362nd on the waiting list?
Pottermore hasn't even said it's going to open to John Q Public yet so if others hear through the grapevine that the ebooks will be available on XYZ date that could mean the Pottermore store and thus the Pottermore site may be ready for the rest of us mortals which would be an unofficial annoucement that they're opening and if made by someone other than Pottermore would take the wind out of their sails when they ultimately make the announcement.
