Her Bones books (the Southern cozies referred to in the description) are, IMO, hysterically funny. The books do feature a ghost, but this ghost pre-dates all the current vampire-this and werewolf-that paranormal nonsense, and is well done - just a nice cute punctuation mark in the stories.

I'm not sure how Southern cozy will translate into Southern gothic, but now I'll get to find out for free. Thanks, AT Drake!
