The entire product release sell-out for any new type of electronic seems to be much more of a marketing scheme than any actual product shortage anymore.

I have no idea how well the new iPAD is selling but I'd bet the farm they devised a plan to put a two week backorder up on the website at least briefly months ago. At this point they almost have to. If they don't all the tech blogs would be writing articles wondering WHY the newest iPAD didn't sell out.
