And it is hard to get too outraged about the 'Apple premium' when you compare the iPad prices:

New iPad 16Gb Wifi - $499.99
New iPad 32Gb Wifi - $599.99

Not exactly double the price, is it?
The iPad is at the top of the price range, but not by a huge amount, not sure how that counts as 'milking their customers dry'.
You can't blame others for following the leader, if shortsighted. The point remains that tablets are overpriced, and the ipad more than the others due to economy of scales. There are several reports indicating the margin exceeds 50% - in my book, that's milking your customers dry.
