Thank you all very much for giving it a go. And really appreciate the tip, dwig. I'll give that program a try.

edit: follow up. Thanks Dwig! PrimoPDF kept crashing, but I did the same thing with doPDF and it yielded PDFs that work just fine. Great tip.
