Trying to render with GhostScript gives me a lot of these:

The file's just broken, or protected somehow. Acrobat Reader renders it extremely slowly on my 2x3Ghz machine.

To make this file usable, you have to make a fresh PDF out of it, that doesn't suffer from breakage or doesn't contain instructions that makes it slow to render (e.g. no layers).
