I wouldn't go that far. The day I bought my Sony PRS T1, I was on the road traveling and realized I had forgotten my cell phone's charger (another wall wart with micro usb connector). So I stopped in a local WalMart and bought a cheap set - wall charger and micro USB cable.

The connector fit OK, but it didn't work on my cell phone. Tried it with the T1 and it didn't work with that either. The cable hooked to my laptop worked, but not hooked to the wall charger. Not sure if it was a defective product or just configured for a different device, as I recall the package stated specifically that it was a generic charger for another device.
